Arrival Date of Nigeria Super Tucano Fighter Jet from the US Draws Near
The 12 Super Tucano fighter jet ordered by Nigeria from the United State of America would soon arrive in the country. from all indication the aircrafts would arrive in the country before the end of July.
The Super Tucano, also named A-29, is a single-engine turboprop light attack aircraft designed and built by Embraer as a development of the Embraer EMB 312. The Aircraft can carry a wide variety of weapons, including precision-guided munitions, and was designed to be a low-cost system operated in low-threat environments.
The aircraft which can take off and land on a rough and dusty runway is configured for light attack, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance mission will forever alter the battlefield landscape.
The first batch of newly acquired Super Tucano which is likely to arrive in the country end of July this year would further boost the Nigeria Air force air power. The Super Tucano is the most efficient and combat-proven aircraft for battling terrorism. The A-29 Super Tucano can navigate jungles and close up areas, its low noise means it can fly at a very low range in any combat terrain while targeting terrorists.
Recently, one of 12 Super Tucano aircraft billed for Nigeria Air Force and painted in a jungle paint scheme that has completed production was put into flight test. According to indications, the Nigeria Air force will take delivery of the first batch of six A-29s this summer and the second batch by the end of the year.
The importance of these A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to the Nigeria Airforce and the fight against terrorism cannot be over-emphasized. For the first time, the NAF will have a combat reconnaissance platform able to deliver precision-guided bombs.
