Recently, the news circulated concerning the removal of Teddy Roosevelt statue from the Museum of Natural History.

According to news gathered, the stature which has been controversially attacked on the basis of racial slavery will be taken down.

The Museum Of Natural History has been wrestling with what to do about the Roosevelt statue for a while, and mounted a special exhibit on the criticism of it a couple of years ago.

While a lot of people welcome the Idea, a lot of people are arguing against it. Here are some of the reactions from Americans
David George Haskell wrote via twitter:
“Hooray. Long overdue. The statue is an appalling depiction of white supremacy, clearly representing American Indians and African Americans as inferior. A terrible symbol to put in front of this museum.”

“”Black Lives Matter” can’t go around pulling down statues, and defacing heritage to make their voice heard that’s not calling for change that’s just down right vandalism. In England there is a 10 year prison for anyone doing this. Mike, London, UK”
Corapena wrote:
“We all want know when all this will stop? Statues down will not solve any social issue. BLM is behaving like a gang creating chaos and not working for real changes. We want this stop. When?”

Jane Waterman noted:
“We need a discussion here. TR was a complicated man. Did a lot of good but was racist. Do all our leaders need to be perfect? Do we need to consider the times in which they lived? Just asking. Not sure of the answer. But there needs to be some consensus”
“If we have no criteria, there will be no statues left. After all, the founders were slave owners, but they wrote the Constitution, a document we have yet to live up to, but all revere. We need a plan. Don’t know what that is, but we need one.”

Jakob Morgan Wrote On Teddy Roosevelt statue:
“We should also bring down the museum, designed in a western imperialist style. As well as the Empire State building, a monument to capitalism; the deadliest ideology ever. And we should rename the state to its native name. And all whites should be forcibly deported to Europe.

Another handler wrote On Teddy Roosevelt statue:

Not quite sure how I feel about the destruction and or removal of these historical works of art. I mean soon, all history will be gone, future generations will have unanswered questions about their heritage. When are they tearing down Colonial Williamsburg? ”

Is it then proper for statues to be taken down on the basis of racial discrimination while eradicating history in the process?
