Ajimobi Grave – See Islamic Ruling on Decorating Grave With Tiles and Air Conditioner
Months after a former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi died of coronavirus complications, the video of his place of burial has been revealed on social media.
The grave is beautifully designed with marble tiles, a sofa, and an air conditioner.
The video of the grave has generated different reactions on social media. Many argued that the decoration is wasteful and unnecessary.
What is the Islamic ruling on decorating a grave?
First, Islam is against wasteful spending and an extravagant lifestyle. This is one of the reasons why Islam wants us to bury the dead immediately. There is no need for a coffin or casket or expensive clothes for the dead. This is because they are no longer useful for them.
Islam is also against the beautification of the grave, there is no need for tiling the grave. This is not permissible to sit near the grave or sit on it. There is nothing special about the grave, it should not be beautifully decorated.
On Ajimobi’s grave, we can see that the decoration is against the principles of Islam.
First, it is a wasteful spending and extravagant lifestyle which is unnecessary.
A big portrait of the late politician is placed there which is also not Islamic. The prophet said anyway a picture is present, the angel will not enter there.
Chairs were also placed beside the grave which means people are allowed to sit down there, this is also not Islamic.
The decoration of Abiola Ajimobi grave by his family members is not Islamic, we hope they yield to advise and make corrections now.
May Allah forgive him. Amin
