Reno Omokri, a popular Nigerian Public Commentator and Human Rights Activist has said there is a need for all the African countries to work on reducing the amount of money they spend on burial and marriage ceremonies.
While giving the reason behind his call for the reduction of costs on his social media page, Reno said the excess money spent by those who are the breadwinners of the families on the two occasions mentioned above can lead the majority to poverty.
He was of the view that such spending may in one way or the other affect their ability to provide the needed things for their families
His tweet reads, “Africana nations need laws to limit how much can be spent on burials and bride price. Because many African communities are poor because breadwinners spend too much money to bury and marry, and have little left to provide bread for those to whom they are breadwinners!”
