4 Barcelona Zoo Lions Test Positive to Covid-19
4 lions at the Barcelona zoo have been confirmed positive for the coronavirus after testing. This statement was made by the zoo officials earlier this week.
Amongst the infected animals is a 4-year-old male and 3 other females who are about 16 years of age. The animals were tested back in November when they started exhibiting mild symptoms of COVID-19, similar to a flu.
According to the press release by the zoo authorities, the felines are responding to veterinarian treatment and doing much better.
Two of the zoo attendants have also reportedly tested positive for the virus around the same time although details of how they got infected or who got infected first is still yet to be ascertained.
Zoo officials have since started collaborating with experts on the international scope, especially in Europe and the Bronx Zoo in New York where the new coronavirus was also found to have infected one of their tigers in April.
